Training Programs
ANZGITA runs in-country training programs in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands and Nepal. Previously, programs have been run in Myanmar. We have in-country partners who we direct us on their needs and who provide the facilities for training. In addition there is monthly ERCP training for Dr Rokocakau at CWMH, Fiji during 2019 and 2020 by visiting doctors with support of specilaist nurses on some visits.
The transfer of trainers' skills and knowledge in the trainee's own environment are the central themes of the programs.
Gastroenterologists, surgeons and nurses volunteer to teach on a four week program. Trainees are taught indications for upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, how to conduct safe, hygienic and effective procedures. Take a look below at a YouTube kaleidoscope of images of past programs below.
A regular program of webinars which cover topics of interest to Pacific Island Countries and Territories is also run throughout the year.
Expansion of our work to other countries is possible and we welcome expressions of interest in partnering on training programs.
