Call for Trainers - 2025 Programs
Dear Colleague
I am writing to ask you to consider volunteering as trainer in gastroenterology and endoscopy during 2025 – which will be the 18th year of ANZGITA's operations. Read my report from 2023 on our programs.
If you would like to offer your services in 2025 you need to register your interest using the button below (even if you have previously indicated it to me or someone else). Registration does not commit you in any way. If you know of others who might be interested in volunteering, pass this email onto them.
Order of registration will be a factor for consideration in selection. Registrations will close on 12 July.
Trainer allocation to programs will be completed by early August.

This program is still developing. There will be a one-week program in each half of the year but timing won't be clear until late 2024. If interested, mark it in your registration and we'll keep you informed.
For all trainers ANZGITA will reimburse the following expenses on request:
Accommodation including breakfast and dinner at the ANZGITA specified facility, or the equivalent cost if trainers select alternative accommodation.
Temporary Registration costs
Visa costs when this is applicable.
In addition, ANZGITA will reimburse nurse-trainers for economy airfares.
All trainerswill be covered by an ANZGITA Travel Insurance Policy.
In the past some doctor-trainers have not requested reimbursement, and although this is not expected, the ANZGITA Board is very appreciative of this support.
Am I Qualified? All gastroenterologists and gastroenterology nurses practising in Australia or New Zealand are capable of being a trainer with ANZGITA – you will need no special qualifications apart from being adaptable and interested in helping our colleagues in less privileged and developing settings.
All trainers will be required to provide information for overseas temporary registration and sign a Volunteers Agreement and other commitments (e.g. regarding sexual exploitation, child safeguarding), provide Working With Children clearance and, for one program, undertake some on-line training prior to departure. This conforms to best practice for any volunteer as determined by Australia's Foreign Affairs Department (DFAT) and the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) the peak body for Australian international Development NGOs. It can feel onerous at times but it is for good reasons and we appreciate your understanding.
One Last Thing Some 100 medical and nursing trainers have contributed to the ANZGITA program over the past 18 years – many on multiple occasions. Almost universally they have found the experience extremely rewarding – if at times quite challenging. We are always keen to include new trainers and that trainers come from all regions of Australia and New Zealand, from both teaching and regional hospitals, from public and private sectors, of all ages and both genders.
I look forward to receiving your registration of interest!
